Originally from Texas, I began pursuing my art career in 2002 at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Initially focused on realistic painting and drawing, I soon realized the unique opportunities SAIC had to offer, and developed a more illustrative background as a result of studying 2d animation, sculpture, video, sound design, installation, printmaking, blacksmithing, and street art in a conceptual learning environment.
Growing up in the late 80’s early 90’s spawned a love for vibrant ‘toxic’ colors and strange mash-up creatures. That naturally lent itself well to my long-time love of tattoo imagery and culture, especially when Texas Graffiti Wild-Style became popular. I enjoy deconstructing animals, objects, and pop culture imagery and juxtaposing them with familiar elements to tell a new story.
