Gauge
In Seattle Washington, 1991 Gauge started a tattoo journey in a very busy downtown street shop. During the subsequent 2 year apprenticeship they had to tattoo whatever walked in the door and was excited to do so! Due to this, they were exposed to a multitude of different artists and styles. After graduating in 1993, the primary objective was to work with each person to make sure their vision was fully brought to fruition.
Striving to learn new techniques and being vigilant about honing the craft Gauge perpetually challenged themself to grow as an artist. Loving to collaborate with clients and creating something they will be proud to wear physically and spiritually throughout life’s journey. It is vitally important to make every experience unforgettable, leaving everyone who gets tattooed with an extraordinary memory.
As a young queer getting their first tattoo at 14, set Gauge on a life long path of spiritual, emotional and physical transition. Seeing tattooing as a framework for self expression and metamorphosis, each of the tattoo tells a story of who they are today.
As a Queer Tranny living and working in San Francisco, it is extraordinarily important for me to work in a safe environment that is open and welcoming to ALL people. Which is why I am so proud to now be a part of the Black and Blue Crew.
